The Importance of Check-In

I was in flow….Enjoying the swim …..in the zone.

After 30 mins or so I stopped to just take a moment to collaborate - then realised - holy shit, I am a hell of a long way from the shoreline.

Swimming back felt so much harder as I was conscious of where I should be and i was way off course.

At some point, I was even started to getting a little bit concerned about whether I was making any progress or not…as the distance did not seem to be closing.

It felt a lot harder and was not so pleasurable as the swim out for sure.

My lesson from this experience….the importance of checking in regularly - where you are and where you are going.

This can be applied, with most things in life but, certainly when building relationships in and out of the workplace.
